Surrounded by snow clad mountains, magnificent glaciers, lush green meadows, thick wooded forests and sparkling lakes, Whitefish offers great recreation opportunities including downhill skiing, cross country skiing, skating, snowboarding in the winter and tubing, mountain hiking, biking, trekking, horse back riding, rappelling, camping, fishing and boating in the summer. It is home to world famous White Fish Ski Resort that attracts many skiers, hikers, nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. For a day of adventure, walk the lovely Danny on Trail which is laden with beautiful wild flowers and exotic wildlife. From spectacular views of the snow clad ranges to breathtaking panoramas of the verdant valley, Danny on Trail would cast an everlasting spell on you. Just a short distance away from Whitefish cabin rentals and Whitefish vacation homes is The Glacier National Park which is ideal for picnicking. Relax in the tranquil ambience of the park while admiring the incredible work of Mother Nature. Spread over 1,500 square miles of wilderness, the park has abundant wildlife and over 60 species of critters like deer, elk, moose, bear, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and 200 species of birds. If you want to enjoy amazing vistas of the town and the picturesque lakes, then there is no better place than Big Mountain which has lifts to take you atop. Many areas in and around the town are worth visiting when you are vacationing in Whitefish. The pristine Flathead Lake, the largest fresh water lake, lures many fly fishermen seeking sly lake trout. Set out for a scenic hike in the Swan Mountains or along the Whitefish Range, a great place to enjoy cross-country skiing or snowmobiling in the winter. From Whitefish you can also plan a day trip to alispell and Bigfork.

The town of Whitefish is filled with many historic sites, churches and museums which are thronged by numerous visitors. A covered sidewalk main street leads to the public library and a cultural art center which is venue of numerous music concerts, theatre performances and exhibitions. The Central Avenue of the town is replete with a variety of specialty restaurants, condo rental Whitefish and shopping outlets where you can buy sculptures, paintings etc. You will also find knit shops and galleries, jwelery stores and fine art establishments to suit your fancy. Whitefish celebrates a host of fairs and festivals through the year. In the month of June, enjoy the Early Bird XC Mountain Bike Race or the Bike Academy Family Day and climb Big Mountain, the Big Mountain Summer Festival and the Star Gazer Event in July. Not to be missed is the Big Mountain Brew fest, or the Glacier Nordic Run and Huckleberry Hill climb which are organized in the month of August and September.
